About Us

Hello! My name is Kate (she/her) and I'm the human behind Mustard Fringe. I opened the shop in October 2023 and have absolutely loved seeing it come to life. 

I’m a queer, Latinx midwife who also runs this little shop. I’m a single mom to a wild toddler who keeps me on my toes! I love the outdoors, traveling, reading, crafting, and spending time with family and friends. I started sewing when I was younger but didn't get really into it until the pandemic. Now I can't stop! My favorite quilts are scrappy and modern and really anything made with love. I also really love bag making!

When I first started teaching myself to quilt, I visited many traditional quilt shops but often felt out of place and unwelcome. Because community is so important to me, I made it my goal to create a space—even virtually—where everyone feels safe, included, and truly welcome. To bring this vision to life, I’ve started organizing quilting bees and am co-hosting a quilty book club with a friend.
